Upcoming Developers Competition Deadlines

If you are a developer and looking for opportunity to showcase your works, then read on. This post is focused on highlighting some developers competitions that you might have missed or don’t know about yet. Some of these will be closing in few weeks. So, you really need to speed up your development work if your mobile app is not yet ready.

Blackberry Developer Challenge:

If you develop for BlackBerry® smartphone and BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet, you can now enter your applications in a series of competitions to win some exciting prizes and recognition awards. Winners will be selected on a regional basis across four global regions – North America, Latin America, Europe/Middle East/Africa and Asia Pacific. If you are a developer and you reside in Africa, this is definitely something you have to consider.

This year’s Challenge includes the following three competitions: Best Adobe Flash®/AIR app, Most Innovative BlackBerry WebWorks™ app on the BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry 6, and Most Addictive social app using the BBM™ Social Platform. Nokia “Create 4 Millions” Contest:

The contest aims to ensure that outstanding apps are created to be used on the Nokia S40 devices. As a developer, you are expected to submit your best Series 40 Java or web apps to win your share of cash and prizes, worth 1 million euros. Your mobile apps must seek to inform, educate, entertain, and bring people closer together. The deadline to enter Create for Millions is 20 September 2011. For more information, click here.

Nokia “Apps to Empower Women” Challenge:

Nokia seeks ideas for mobile apps that can help women in work, education, and leisure. The mobile apps must have the potential to help empower women in a wide range of ways, help them to become better connected, better able to manage their time – and, yes, more mobile. The challenge opens on Wednesday, 29 June 2011 and is expected to close on 30 September 2011. Click here if this looks like something that interests you.

MTN App Development Competition:

MTN currently seeks apps that are innovative and that are developed for the Middle East and Africa market. To be qualified for the competition, your creations have to deal with any facet of life in Africa and the Middle-East. Also, the apps must solve some of the regions’ most pressing challenges, must be built for the Android operating system, and be in English.
