As part of its preparation for the launch of its app store, MTN has announced an app development competition. The apps have to be innovative and must be for the Middle East and Africa market. As part of the information made available on the competition page, MTN says her vision for the soon-to-be-launched MTN app store is to have content that is relevant to the lives of her subscribers, and informed by the conditions in our communities.
Requirements:
To be qualified for the competition, your creations have to deal with any facet of life in Africa and the Middle-East. The apps should be able to meet the following criteria:
- solve some of the regions’ most pressing challenges,
- apps can be for lifestyle, entertainment, or social networking
- apps must be built for the Android operating system, and be in English.
The Competition:
The competition runs for six months – July to December 2011 – and will have six monthly winners and an overall winner.
The Prizes:
The first prize for monthly winners is a Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the second prize is a Samsung Galaxy S2. The prize for the overall winner is a trip to the Mobile World Congress 2012!
