Have you seen Glo’s App Store? It’s pretty cool to have a local app store, especially one from Glo – a local network. Yes. It’s proudly Nigerian, and apps are free or sold in the local currency – the Naira. The app store has the simplest of design with the usual: Home, Categories, Top Apps, Top Rated, Recent, Favorites, Forums and News tabs.
Taking a quick glance at the Recently Added chart on the home page, Apps are either Free or N0.10 (10 Kobo), which is pretty affordable. The apps are also on the popular platform used in Africa – Blackberry, Java, and Android. Perhaps the most impressive feature is how you actually get the app for your phone type. The ‘What Phone Are You Using’ drop box allows you enter the brand and model of your phone, and then provides the app that goes with your device for you to download.
