We earlier started a conversation on Nigerian Ladies in Tech, well Nubi used the term GeeksInPink, and now C0-Creation Hub is to host an event to focus on the topic.
No boys, men, male, guys allowed, as this is not a social event. – Signed Management
The meetup will explore how women can play a stronger role in Nigeria’s growing information technology startup scene which currently seems disproportionately dominated by men. The aim is to make 2013 the year of the Nigerian Girl Geek.
While some female powerhouses exist in the Nigerian tech space with the likes of Funke Opeke (CEO, MainOne Cable Company), Juliet Ehimuan (Country Manager, Google Nigeria), Lynda Saint-Nwafor (CTO, MTN Nigeria), Florence Seriki, (MD/CEO Omatek Venture) and even Omobola Johnson (Hon. Minister of Information Technology), there is a need to ensure there is a steady pipeline of young women in influential roles as the startup ecosystem opens up more in the coming years.
“I see this meetup as an opportunity to figure out how best ladies can participate in growing the ecosystem. It’s about time we stepped up and contributed our quota to the advancement of technology in Nigeria” – Damilola Sobowale (Creative Director, Smids Animation)
The purpose of this meetup is to form a synergy among women in Tech and discover areas where participants can collaborate, learn, grow, network and make maximum use of all the opportunities available in Tech particularly with regards to what the CcHUB community can provide.
