Business Models For Internet & Mobile Service – MoMoNigeria May Recap

May’s edition of Mobile Monday focused on  Business Models for Internet & Mobile Services in Nigeria, but the focus of the day was perhaps the first two words of the theme – Business Model.   Although ‘internet’, ‘mobile’, ‘web’, came up a number of time, but business model for techies seem to be the prominent discussion.

The program kicked off by Idemudia introducing Adeyemi Fowe to give introductory speech to business model while waiting for Seyi Talyor who was the main speaker for the day after some delay which was later apologized for.

Fowe charged the crowd by addressing some core issues when it comes to business in technology (mobile and web).

Seyi Taylor the CEO of Bloovue was later introduced as the main speaker of the day by Idemudia.  The meeting was very interactive, as Seyi interviewed business owners in the meeting, as they explained the ups and downs of their businesses; giving room for anyone to ask or answer questions.

After lot of discussion, the moment that caught my attention was when Seyi gave the idea of his Accountant’s friend who buys food stock in bulk and delivers it to people in their various offices, homes and distributing point and he makes tens of million naira monthly.

Seyi advice:

  • Figure out what people really need and forget about paying means (Mobile payment, etc).
  • Go to the street and find out what people are doing daily and how you can use internet (Technology) to better it.

Pictures speaks more than words, check out the event photographs.
