The 2012 Top Apps Awards According To Opera Mobile Store

The Opera Mobile Store, the world’s fifth-largest mobile app store, today announced the winners of the 2012 Top Apps Awards. These awards recognize the best apps in the Opera Mobile Store across multiple categories based on popular user voting.

The honorable, overall winners for the 2012 Top Apps Awards are:

  • PB Shell 3D Android – Enjoy Your Phone for Android
  • Friends, Fun, Free for Java
  • eBuddy XMS for BlackBerry
  • Nimbuzz Messenger Chat and Call for Symbian

An additional top 3 apps were announced winners for each platform (Android, Java, BlackBerry and Symbian) under the following categories: Business & Finance, Communication, E-Books, Entertainment, Games: Action, Games: Arcade, Games: Cards, Games: Sports, Health, Languages & Translators, Multimedia, Organizers, Ringtones, Themes & Skins, Travel & Maps and Utilities.

Opera Software introduced the Top Apps Awards this year to acknowledge the most popular apps within its catalog of 80,000 free and paid apps in the Opera Mobile Store, which now has 50 million monthly users and is available through Opera’s flagship Opera Mini and Opera Mobile browsers. Users can also access the Opera Mobile Store from any browser by going to apps.opera.com.

The Opera Mobile Store has proven content distribution in some of the world’s fastest-growing mobile markets, including India, Russia, Brazil, Indonesia and South Africa. The Opera Mobile Store is the biggest cross-platform app store that supports Android, Java, Symbian and BlackBerry devices. The store allows developers to register and submit apps for free.

The winners in the 16 categories by platform were picked through popular voting by users of the Opera Mobile Store, who voted for their favorite apps by going to the respective app page and clicking on “Opera Top App” between November 15 and November 22, 2012. The apps with the most votes in each category on each platform were selected as winners.
