#oTeKReview: Spinlet, Consume Music On Your Mobile With Ease, Anywhere

All the music you already have in your phone will be stored along with anyone you buy from the store. I find that to be a good feature. It will make it easier for new users who already have their own personal music collection to spend some time within the app. The music player interface is sweet and beautiful. It also functions very well. You don’t have to buy music or pay for premium membership before you can use it to stream your own music.

Store – This is where you can easily go to check the different music available within the Spinlet library. While at it, you have the privilege of streaming the music even when you have not paid for them. I found this out much later from other users that were already enjoying and raving about the app. In my own case, I tried to download, I was showed the amount.

I bought Spinlet Credit [SC], which was quite easy via my mobile airtime and proceeded to download the music I wanted to listen to. If I were patient enough, I’m sure I would have been able to notice that one can actually stream the music without subscription. Yes, you don’t need to download the music nor register as a premium member before you can listen to the music. So, what is the catch? I am going to dig deep into this. I will be giving an analysis of the cost of the music later and why I think people are going to pay for the music.

Friends – You will be requested to create a profile. As soon as you log in to your account, you’d be able to share your playing lists with friends that you have added.

Sharing my playlist with my Spinlet contacts

There is an option to add friends and have instant messaging with them. I have had a few of those conversations with some of the early adopters. There’s a notification at the top of the app anytime their’s a new message. Mind you, I have been trying the app on a Symbian phone. I am sure the experience on Blackberry and Android may be slightly different.

I am shocked to find that they got the app so well, especially since it is very hard to see a very functional app that is designed so well that runs on Symbian touch screen phones. There has been complaints from people who have tried to use the app on Nokia E5 without success. They downloaded the app, but could not use it. I am trying to get in touch with the Spinlet team so as to their feedback on this issue. So, keep a tab on this blog.

I understand that they are merely doing a soft launch and this is the first time the general member of the public is being allowed to use this service. Even at that, I am impressed to see that I have not had any reason to call support or customer care. This is another pointer to the fact that in the coming weeks and months new features and functionalities would be added.
