The Samsung Galaxy SII is 4.3” in screen size, increased to 4.65” in the Galaxy nexus. This little increment in screen is already pissing a few people off. If I can go with The Samsung Galaxy SII at 4.3”, this is still okay by me. What do you think? This is similar to the different capacities that we have in iPhones. It has super Amoled capacitive touch screen.
The camera is 8 MP, same specification with its predecessor. When it comes to the from facing camera, it is 1.9 MP, unlike that of the predecessor that is 2 MP. I wonder what makes them change their mind about some of this specs. If you’re into much of specifications, you can check the full specifications here and compare it with ease with other phone on GSMArena’s website.
First impression:
I find the phone cool in some ways. Just from the presentation off course, almost can’t wait to have my hand on this beast of a device. The phone can charge via wireless! Yes, I did not make a mistake, you heard me right. We have heard of USB charging and now Samsung comes with Wireless charging. I’d like to personally experience that and see how it works. The 2100 mAh battery is also removable, which means if you’re the type that like to carry extra battery, you can do so. It uses micro Sim by the way, not the regular kind of Sim.
There’s a Wireless dongle that you can buy along with the SGSIII it is called “AllShare Cast wireless streaming dongle” that allows you to connect your device wirelessly to your TV.
It doesn’t need line-of-sight to your handset because it uses a wireless protocol called WiFi Display, which means you can happily leave it dangling out-of-the-way behind your TV while streaming contents from your phone on your TV. It can interact with an app that is called Polaris office app and can allow you to run slides on the TV screen. This can be very useful for enterprise use. It will come at 89 Euro.
There’s S Voice that allows you to have a voice conversation with your phone. This is going to be a Siri competitor, like we find the iPhone. Voice gestures is actually a cool feature. It is the reason many folks decided to pick the iPhone 4s. Will it be as good as the Siri in iPhone?
As I watched the presentation from my PC I was asking myself if we’re going to see Samsung Galaxy SIII launched here in Nigeria. Remember that Samsung Galaxy Nexus wasn’t launched here. It is expected to be available in Europe by May 29 this year. It was announced that it will be launched in 143 countries. Hopefully, Nigeria will be among and we’ll be able to have a hand on feel and share in more details with you. I am here still waiting for the time we’ll have the first Windows Phone from Nokia launched here too.
What do you feel? Does the Samsung Galaxy SIII sound like something you’re looking forward to having.
