On October 16, 2010, the first #NigeriaDecides tech meetup was held. The turn-out was huge and the result speaks for itself. A lot has happened since then. Revoda was developed and launched by a team of volunteers and coordinated by Enough Is Enough Nigeria. The app has been used my thousands of volunteers to submit reports about the elections. It has helped us to turn an average voter to an election monitor. This is the first in Africa and this vision was birthed at the October 2010 meeting.
We are few days to the end of the 2011 elections and it is a great time to review the use of technology in the 2011 elections. PLEASE mark Saturday, April 30, 2011, in your calendar and prepare to attend #NigeriaDecides tech meetup II.
On that day, we would be discussing possible future directions, viz:
- How do we use existing tech tools to further improve democracy and citizen involvement with good governance?
- Do opportunities for collaboration exists for various tools?
- What worked, and what didn’t?
Please save the date, and book your ticket now.
