If you missed the Mobile Monday Get Techie 1.0 event last week (24 October 2011), here is a chance to re-live the event. The venue was quite full with interesting Developers, Technology Enthusiast, Lawyers, Bankers, Nokia guys and Googlers. The “Get Techie” event was totally different from the previous Mobile Monday events because it took a form of “Question and Answer (Q&A)”. The panelists comprise Techie and Business guys and they did enough justice to all the questions asked. The panelists include Yomi Adegboye (Mobility), Aniede Udo (Paga) and Idemudia Dima-Okojie.

The floor was opened by Adeyemi Fowe – one of the MoMo Nigeria Champions – who introduced Sheriff Shittu, the CEO of Webtrends Nigeria. Sheriff gave an update on what is happening in industry and what to expect in the future.
Sheriff spoke about the shutting down of Kalahari‘s operations in Kenya and South Africa and what this means for the online commerce industry in Nigeria. He also talked about the MTN Nigeria Ideas Forum which took place on 21 October 2011 in Lagos, Nigeria. Loy Okezie of Techloy also shared his view on the happenings in the industry and later presented an Inye tablet to the winner of the competition he run on his blog.
One of the questions asked was about the issues of internet in Nigeria and its implication to the growth of technology. This question seems to generate many interests as most people seems to have one story or the other about the performance of the different internet providers in Nigeria. At the end of the day, people were encourage to step out and not allow any limitation hinder them from stepping out. Nigeria needs many solutions and it is left to you and me to answer this call. Let’s create the solutions that will solve the problems we face on a daily basis.
