The 2012 edition of the Google Apps Developer Challenge is about to come to an end, and 3 Nigerian teams are among contenders of the USD$20,000 prize. More exciting is that these contenders are all student teams.
To put things in perspective, developers in 6 regions across the world entered for the challenge to win prizes that include Chromebooks and up to$20,000 USD . All they had to do is build and submit an amazing application in one of these categories:
- Enterprise / Small Business Solutions
- Social / Personal Productivity / Games / Fun
- Not-for-Profit: Education / Water / Food & Hunger / Health
A winner was then chosen for each category, in each region to form a long list of semi-finalists. Here are the three teams from Nigeria:

Over the last 4 months developers all over the world have have put their skills to the test to see if they can create the the most awesome app based on the Google Apps, Google Drive and Apps Script platforms in the Google Apps Developer Challenge.
After the first round and 262 submissions, 62 teams made it to the semi finals of the competition and were given 1 month to polish their apps. Tomorrow on the 12th of November 2012 , we will be announcing the different winners in each category via a live broadcast with Google+ Hangout on Air.
These winners will take home the grand prize of $20,000. To watch this broadcast please monitor the #gappschallenge hashtag on googleplus as from 17:45 hrs UTC+2 (6:45pm Local Time) on 12th of November 2012. Also you can checkout some of the apps that have made the semi finals here.
