When it comes to online ticketing and attendance management for events, Eventbrite is pretty much the standard. And that includes Nigeria, most of us use it by default.
But not for long, if Eventiso has anything to say about it. Today, a creative agency, turned web startup is launching an events management platform that has the potential to re-imagine the way Nigerians publish, manage and promote their events online.
Eventiso isn’t the first Nigerian startup to venture into this space. They aren’t even the second or third. But while websites like Afritickets, Eventsrail and Ariiya already make it possible to publish events and sell tickets online, Eventiso’s founders felt that the space needed a few more extras that would significantly enhance the experience for event hosts and publishers.
These extras mean that Eventiso should be able to do a lot of things that the other platforms can’t.
For instance, when you publish an event via Eventiso, it’s not like posting yet another listing on some events site. Instead you get YOUR events website, that can be quickly and easily populated with brandable templates, rich media content, vanity short urls and even your own domain name. The best way to describe it — it’s much like an events content management system. Everything is hosted on Eventiso’s servers, allowing anyone to quickly create mobile and desktop event websites, without the associated costs of buying webhosting and hiring developers.
Eventiso gives event hosts the tools to manage their attendance, while staying in complete control of their registrants’ data. The platform features a drag-and-drop interface that lets you build registration forms with unlimited input fields, and download all attendee data in .xls or .csv format. This data is of of course instantly addressible in all kinds of ways — a discerning host can use this data to request feedback from attendees or conduct surveys for subsequent projects or even track patterns that can lead to insights.
Finally, Eventiso boasts of a set of robust promotion tools designed to make events go viral. They’ve got an inbuilt SMS messenger, a voice broadcaster and a social promoter that shares your events to social networks. And what’s more, the whole promotion process can be scheduled in advance, making the campaign as painless as possible. Essentially, you can set it and forget it. The startup is also talking about introducing a gamified aspect to events promotion.
Nigeria’s events industry is growing, owing largely to the rise of the entertainment industry, and Eventiso looks to be bringing some interesting technology to bear on that space. All that remains to see now is if it actually works as advertised. The platform offers a free plan, which will be sufficient for most casual event organisers, and a premium service for the more accomplished “power hosters”.
