Editor’s Note: A fine mix of disappointment and amazement seem to be the motive behind the call for innovators to apply for the prestigious African Innovation Award – the competition described below has a $100,000 first prize. Take a look at last year’s winner here.
We would like to share information about a great initiative with you. It is called Innovation Prize for Africa (IPA), an initiative co-founded by African Innovation Foundation (AIF) and the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
This prestigious prize, created to mobilize African innovators and entrepreneurs, provides US$ 150,000 to winners who deliver market oriented solutions with great social impact to the African continent. All Africans (including Africans in the Diaspora) with an innovation for Africa are invited to apply.
The deadline for IPA 2013 is October 31st, 2012. Please see the attached Call for Applications for details on the application process.
Further information can be found on IPA website: innovationprizeforafrica.org. Here is a direct link to the Call for Applications page: innovationprizeforafrica.org/
So here’s OTEKBITS’ bit to call for applications from innovators in our networks of readers who might be interested in applying. We got informed that to date, less than 5 Nigerians have applied when there should be about 500. So here’s our attempt to get the word out before the ‘end-of-october’ deadline.
