It has been a while since the news about Google acquiring Motorola has been broken. There were still protocols that needed to be met and contracts to be signed off. Today, the deal was signed and sealed as reported on Google Blog.
It the release there was a line that stoke me, it is something that has to do with the majority of internet and web users in Nigeria and Africa. The comment was made by Larry Page;

With the deal closing, the CEO of Motorola Mobility, Sanjay Jha, who was responsible for building the company and placing that big bet on Android, has stepped down as CEO. “He will be working to ensure a smooth transition as long-time Googler Dennis Woodside takes over as CEO of Motorola Mobility.” Says Larry page.
With Google now in total control of Motorola and with Motorola being powered by Google’s Android, there’s one question on my mind; What does this mean to the other folks who are using Google’s Android–the likes of Samsung, LG, Huawei, HTC et’al? Will their be a level playing field or will Google start cheating them?
Google has said it is going to run Motorola Mobility as an independent unit of its operation. Lets see how this will change the Android ecosystem.
Motorola Mobility was acquired by Google Inc (GOOG) at $12.5 billion USD.
