On the second of August, 2013, iDEA, a Nigerian innovation centre, will be launching its hub at the Tinapa Knowledge City, Cross River State. Before the launch, there would be a 42-hour app-building hackathon. The purpose of the Hackathon is to give developers, designers, and entrepreneurs the chance to create applications that showcase the vibrancy of Nigeria’s entertainment industry and our rich cultural heritage.
Developers will be challenged to come up with ideas, form teams and build a prototype of their app – be it mobile apps, web apps, widgets or games. Teams have full ownership of everything they build at the event and are free to do with it as they wish. The prototype would then be presented to the hackathon judges and three winners will be selected to win cash prizes, devices and software.
To apply for the hackathon, interested participants nationwide should visit the iDEA Facebook page and register. Fifty eligible contestants would be considered and invited for the hackathon in Tinapa Knowledge City. Eligibility of interested participants will be based on the ability of the participant to answer correctly the assessment conducted during registration.
