We reported that internet entrepreneurs Jason Njoku and Bastian Gotter, officially launched SPARK, a $1m-backed company to support and develop aspiring Nigerian tech and Internet entrepreneurs. As seen on the website SPARK, is no incubator and definitely not a fund but instead a company that builds companies.
The Lagos based company with the aim of making investment $30-75k funding level to the tech ecosystem has now activated another 3 companies – Borro, Christains, and Drinks, which were previously in stealth mode.
Borro is a community where members can use their reputation within the SPARK network of companies to obtain life improving loans, to use for education, healthcare, home improvement or for a small business. Overtime members get to build their creditworthiness and access local financial services.
Christians is a dating service with a simple goal of connecting Christians in Lagos. With safety and security is top priority, personal information is protected and extra precautions is taken to protect users from any inappropriate images or language with daily verification of profiles and image monitoring for decency.
Drinks not to be confused as another of Rocket Internet’s e-commerce platform, as it is very similar in design. Here you get to order for drinks – wine, spirit, and non-alcoholic drinks. The typical Pay-On-Delivery is available, as well as Free Delivery.
These internet startups, or companies as they are called, join the likes of hotels.ng, Giddimint, Bus.ng, and ToLet, which are already operational. Still don’t get what SPARK is really about? Check out this audio response from Jason Njoku and Bastian Gotter of iROKO Partners.
