Social Banking From GTBank Goes Live

We reported late last year that GTBank was scheduled to launch its social banking services. Although delayed, the platform that will allow customers access its banking services via Facebook is now live. Using the platform, GTBank customers will be able to open GTBank accounts and access customer service support via the platform.

Speaking on the launch, GTBank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Segun Agbaje said that the bank aims to engage the public where they work, live or play. According to him, the social banking platform would enable the bank reach out to and forge relationships with customers via social media.

This novel service presently allows people open GTBank accounts and get customer service support on Facebook and in a couple of weeks, we will introduce new service options that include money transfers, airtime purchases and bills payments,” he said.

GTBank now has over one million fans on Facebook; the largest for any African Bank, and we’ve got inside information the target is to triple that figure in the near future. Perhaps a good move, as the bank recently introduced GTBank Mobile Money, a highly secure application that allows customers and non GTBank customers perform transfers and payments from their mobile phones to any mobile phone subscriber within the country- the mobile phone is where most social activity take place.

The bank also brags of its internet banking platform as one of the most robust in the industry, supporting a wide array of service offerings that include bills payments, own and third party transfers and foreign exchange transfers to any bank account in the world, as well as its anti-fraud, anti-hack, and other secure system.
