Social Media Week Lagos has been awesome so far and this is the first time people from different genres are coming together to talk on one subject in different ways. Banks, Telecoms, Government, Entertainment,, Technology, Art, Media, etc, are storming the Social Media Week Lagos event centers and so far, it’s getting better day by day.
I was at Terrakulture for all of today and the ‘show’ started with Whatsup Africa and ended with Telling the African Story. Ikenna Azuike of Whatsup Africa started by encouraging the audience to follow their passion and he supported his word by telling the story of how he left practicing law to become a crazy presenter.
He exposed the audience to how they could leverage on YouTube to create a business or career out of the platform, also making an introduction to people already making a living out of it. Ikenna created a short workshop at the end of the program where participants worked together to create what they could present on a Youtube channel.
On of the groups known as “Mama sey” won the workshop, an idea channel where people would be taught Nigerian’s proverbs and different Nigeria cultures. You can cash the tweets from #smwvideoblog.
The evening was for “Telling African Stories“, a program that was used to encourage people in using Social Media to tell stories. The event also covered the use of social network by Nigerians with a focus on how to tell great stories instead of ‘facing’ other foreign celebrities stories. The evening was rounded off by an EME All Stars music concert but I wasn’t there to see the end of the evening. Catch tweets from #SMWOurStory.
