At the peak of the global financial crisis in 2009, Adebola Adeola and Olanrewaju Oyetodun returned home and setup iThena Logic Ltd, the parent company of Topup Genie. Adebola Adeola studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Surrey and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree with Honours while Lanre Oyetodun started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, a consultancy, first in the Boston practice based in Boston, MA and later in the Nigeria practice based in Lagos, Nigeria. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude) in Economics and Finance from Bryant University, Smithfield, RI, USA.
Topup Genie’s vision is that that every Nigerian with a mobile phone, whether BlackBerry, Samsung, Nokia, or China, whether Android, Symbian, Windows, or Apple, would have access to free, and fair topping up (recharging) of their phone, anywhere and anytime, as long as they have a network connection and a bank account, and of course signed up to the service.
