KULUYA.com: Africa Welcomes Another Casual Gaming Company From Nigeria

First came MALIYO, launching 6 game titles (now 10 titles) with African narratives, and now we have KULUYA launching today with hopes of staking its hand in the African gaming space with a first game ‘Monkey Run’.

KULUYA is a game development outfit out of the city of Lagos, Nigeria. The team of 10 intent to change the gaming landscape in Africa with over a hundred game titles – including: Masa, Snake, Zulu, Point & Kill, Ole, Agbero, Bush Meat, and Mosquito. However, Monkey Run is the only available game live for play.

Games from KULUYA are web browser games, at least for now. So, one can assume the audience is first diaspora and then Africans with access to the internet via PC, as the games are not optimized for mobile devices which happen to be the most popular means of access to the internet in Africa.

Interesting times for Africa as regards local content, with tech startups – iROKO Partners, Afrinolly, Spinlet, Gbedu.FM, MALIYO Games, and now KULUYA.com, emerging to take a hold of these content (video, music, and games), making an enterprise of them while showcasing the continent to the rest of the world.

You can play Monkey Run now at kuluya.com and if you do finish the game, you get to walk away with a new BlackBerry Curve 9360. All you have to do is send a screenshot of the finished game to winner@kuluya.com.

Not so easy.
