Here Are Our Glo Hotspot Testers – Now Let The Testing Begin!

We said we’d do it, and now we are. With  the help of a  few geeky volunteers, the rest of you are finally going to see Glo’s hotspot in action — or inaction, whatever the case may be.

And just so you know that this isn’t rigged or anything, let’s meet our testers. Believe me, we searched the length and breadth of Nigeria for these guys.

Allow me to introduce Dr. Ovie Albert from Sapele, Delta state. Nice to have you on the show, Dr. Albert. The good doctor tweets as @dfewgoodmen.

Olusina Ayeni, also known as @Olusheenor on Twitter, is our second participant, and he proudly reps Ekiti State.

We’ve also got Kaelo Iyizoba, and he’s from Nsukka, in Enugu. He’s @Kiziyoba on Twitter.

Ilorin was as far up north as we managed to get, but we’re happy to have Bukhari (@bamoburry) from Kwara state.

Because I’m Lordbanks, I pulled a few strings and got a special guest to participate. Please welcome Yomi Adegboye (Mister Mobility), our expert on all things mobile — obviously. Seeing as he is with us, you can be sure that things are gonna get done properly.

And last, but certainly not least is yours truly, the landlord and sixth tester in this experiment.

As you can see, the data sharing feature supports only six subscribers. I’ve shared my data plan with everybody else, and we’re now good to go. Each of them should have gotten SMS notifications by now.

Each of our participants has confirmed that they can monitor their data consumption and can do speedtests. Here’s exactly what we’d like each of them to do for us –

1. Confirm that their subscription works.

2. Do a speedtest at speedtest.net. We’d like to know how fast the new Glo Bolt service is at each location, or if it’s just an empty announcement. Remember, we’ve got testers in Lagos, Delta, Ekiti, Enugu and Kwara States.

3. Tell us their personal observations and impressions about the data sharing feature as well as the Glo Bolt service.

Esteemed audience, distinguished testers, we are now live. My Glo data is now your data — up to 500MB, for the next two days. Testing ends by noon on Friday. Let’s do this.

For everyone who is following our experiment, do tell us what you think. We’re also happy to answer any questions and make clarifications where necessary.
