BuyLikeMagic Founder, Chuka Ofili On E-Commerce [VIDEO]

In the next couple of weeks, we’d be bringing you videos of some interviews we had with startup founders in Nigeria. We caught up with some of them who have shown promise in running startups that have attracted admirable traction. This is to complement the Founder’s Series started by OTEKBITS’ Tolu Agunbiade, that already features the likes of Sim Shagaya, Jason Njoku, and the Jobberman Trio.

First on the video series is Chuka Ofili, founder of BuyLikeMagic.com, and recently nominated for Best Use of Technology for The Future Awards on his work on the market data intelligent platform, Open Apps. In his own words, what his startup offers is ‘fulfilment services‘, including inventory, payment and delivery for merchants looking to widen their reach.

We got talking about starting up and the reception so far. He was pretty impressed and surprised at the level of success in terms of patronage on the side of buyers who come as far as up north and remote areas like Ogbomoso. We then got talking about the e-commerce landscape in Nigeria, where he was quick to mention that although small, the numbers are growing and there is definitely a percentage of people, whether 99% or 1%, that subscribe to the e-commerce lifestyle.

Other things discussed covered challenges like payment, logistic, and the relatively high cost of gaining ‘consumer confidence‘.

Do check out the full video below. Not to worry it’s just 6 mins long, and is worth watching. You can also follow him on twitter at @ChukaOfili.
