With devices ranging from low to high end, the Galaxy series has been milked by Samsung many times over. With the Samsung Galaxy S3 selling 10 million units in the first two months, Samsung is set to break its own record by expecting to sell 10 million of the Samsung Galaxy S4 in the first month.
Samsung Galaxy S4 is the latest of the high end range of devices – the first set of users who began pre-ordering this week will receive theirs at the end of April.
A report by the Telegraph states that Carphone Warehouse, one of the stores taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S4, has increased the number of their staff to accommodate the influx of pre-orders. Could this be a sign that the Galaxy S4 will break their record as predicted?
One of the reasons that Samsung sells so many of its devices is that they are available on multiple carrier networks and several countries at the same time. The Galaxy S3 was first launched in South Africa, Ghana and Nigeria before its official release in the US and it appears the UK will get their hands on the Galaxy S4 before the US.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is sporting some improvements. For one, on the new Galaxy S4, a user will be able to hover finger over the screen to display additional preview information, a feature currently available on the Galaxy Note 2 when using the S Pen. There is also a feature that allows users pause videos just by looking away.
With it’s 5″ display, a 13MP camera and a software upgrade, the Galaxy S4 has consumers all over the world drooling.
The interest in Samsung Galaxy range of high end devices can easily be noticed on the streets as in Nigeria, you will find more people carrying a Samsung Galaxy device than an iPhone.
How much will it cost to be one of the first people to own the Samsung Galaxy S4 when it starts shipping on the 26 of April? The pre-order opened in UK last week and from a price comparison done by AT&T, the US is also set to start taking pre-orders from April 16. They are offering the GALAXY S4 at $249.99 on a two year contract.
According to The Next Web, those buying the phone SIM-free in the UK (you can use any SIM of your choice), will be paying about N150,000 (£629.95) for the 16GB version. This is a tad more expensive than the latest iPhone of the same capacity, when you consider that a new iPhone 5 16GB goes for about N118,000.
At the price it is being sold on pre-order in the UK and the US, one wonders how much it will be sold in Nigeria. We have reached out to Samsung here in Nigeria and will update you on the pre-order and release information as soon as they make it available to us.
