Google Introduces Mobile Device Management Portal For Android Users

Mobile Device Management (MDM) is the ability to secure, monitor, manage and support mobile devices – typically involving remote distribution of applications, data and configuration settings for all types of mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and notebook computers.

By the end of August 2013, Google Inc. is planning to launch a portal where we all can track and locate our Android devices. With Android devices gaining alarming prominence in Nigerian market, this is going to be of immense benefit to us. You will not only be able to locate it when lost once logged in to the portal, you can also call it or remotely wipe off your Android phone to keep your files secured.

All that is required to logged on to the portal is a username, password and internet connection. With the portal, you can also change your phone password in case you forget it at home and you fear it would fall into the wrong hands (like a nosy wife or curious siblings) before you get back home.

The portal is going to be available for all devices running Android 2.2 and above via Google Play Services. I’ll keep you posted once it’s available on Google Play.
