The bull as he is known in Business circles, Otunba Mike Adenuga is 59. Born on April 29, 1953, the richest man in Oyo state and one of Forbes richest men in the world’s birthday coincided with the launch of Glo Mobile Ghana. Glo is the second national telecoms operator in Nigeria and is said to be one of the fastest growing mobile service providers in the world. Besides Ghana, Glo has also acquired the license to operate in Ivory coast while already being operational in the Benin Republic.

Glo mobile Ghana will be the sixth to launch in joining MTN, Airtel, Vodaphone, Expresso and Trigo. Total mobile lines in Ghana is estimated to be over 21 million with MTN having 48 percent of the total market share with over 10 million lines and Vodaphone coming next with about 21 percent of the total market share with over four million subscribers.Pre launch, Glo mobile Ghana put up a promo for Ghanaians to reserve special numbers from the 023-3 lines by sending a code via sms. This promo was said to generate over 1.5 million subscribers, these people has an opportunity to activate and use their lines the day after the launch.

We can all recall how Glo Nigeria helped counter the monopoly in Nigeria by introducing per second billing as well as a host of other affordable packages like Glo Infinito etc. We wish Glo mobile Ghana all the best and wait to see what the future holds for them in Ghana.
