Co-Creation Hub Partners Visa For Financial Literacy Challenge

With financial literacy a big problem in Nigeria, the CcHub and Visa have partnered to run a challenge that will bring key finance actors – including: CBN, banks, credit bureaus, personal finance experts, NGOs, micro-finance institutions etc, together with software developers and designers to create interesting apps and games that help inform Nigerians on how to manage their money and educate on the tools available to meet their money needs.

The apps and games will target: children, youth and undergraduates; educated Nigerians outside the school system; and the uneducated/illiterate population, all of which is to be accessible through mobile devices (basic phones, smart phones and tablets) as well as on popular social media platforms.

The challenge comes in three phases, kicking off with the Stakeholder Session, scheduled for June 22, 2013 and now open for registration. This will then be followed with the Ideation Session to run from June 27 to July 4. and then Comment and Voting phase.

While judges assess prototypes, they will be looking at: relevance of the solution; accessibility for the target audience; quality of the prototype developed; and potential reach of the solutions developed. A 1st to 3rd cash prize of N1.2M, N960k, and N800k are up for grabs with a one month period to finalize solutions.
